AP Biology

Together we will achieve…

AP Biology is a college-level course centered on 4 key ideas.  Students will use multiple methods to learn about these concepts, including but not limited to reading current research, case studies, student led debates and discussions, teacher-led investigations and independent inquiry projects.  We will use internet resources and learning platforms extensively so it is important that students make time to access the internet on a daily basis and keep up with course assignments.

Big Idea 1: The process of evolution drives diversity and unity of life

Big Idea 2: Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, to reproduce, and to maintain dynamic homeostasis.

Big Idea 3: Living systems sore, retrieve, transmit, and respond to information essential to life processes.

Big Idea 4: Biological systems interact, and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties.

Students will be prepared to take the AP Biology test on May 11, 2015 in the morning.  Students should prepare throughout the year for this exam which is comprehensive and requires analytical writing and basic mathematical calculations.
